Highlighting the voices and research of Women in Ocean Science.

We are proud to announce our partnership with Integrative and Comparative Biology (ICB) to develop a special issue that celebrates and elevates the contributions of women working across marine disciplines.

This collaboration brings together Women in Ocean Science’s mission to amplify underrepresented voices and ICB’s legacy of publishing impactful research. The special issue will feature original research, reviews, and perspective pieces from women scientists working across fields like marine biology, ecology, oceanography, conservation, and more.

Why this matters:
Historically, women’s contributions to ocean science have often been under-acknowledged. This partnership directly challenges that by providing a prestigious publishing platform to spotlight the talent, knowledge, and leadership of women in the field.

What's Included:

The issue will feature papers across:

  • Original Research

  • Review Articles

  • Perspective Pieces

To support early-career contributors, workshops and mentorship opportunities will be provided throughout the writing process.

Timeline:
Accepted articles will be published in 2026, with submission open from October 1, 2025, to April 1, 2026.

Long-term vision:
We’re excited to share that this partnership will extend into 2027. Authors or reviewers unable to participate in this current issue will be considered for future involvement.
